The Untold Story of Rick Simpson, Jack Herer, and the War on Truth about Cannabis Medicine
PART ONE: RICK SIMPSON
THE MAN WHO FOUND THE CURE β AND WAS PUNISHED FOR IT
In 1997, Rick Simpson β a Canadian power engineer who had worked in a hospital for 25 years β fell from a ladder and suffered a severe head injury. Doctors diagnosed him with post-concussion syndrome. The prescription medications they gave him did nothing but harm him.
In desperation, he turned to cannabis. In 1998, after watching a documentary about medical marijuana, he began using hemp oil. It worked. His symptoms improved. He could sleep again.
Then, in 2003, Simpson was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma β skin cancer. He had already undergone surgery once. The cancer returned.
Around that time, he learned of a National Cancer Institute study showing that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) kills cancer cells in mice. He decided to try something radical. He created a concentrated cannabis extract β what would later become known as Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) or Phoenix Tears β and applied it directly to the cancerous lesions on his skin, covering them with bandages.
A few days later, he removed the bandages. The cancer was gone. He had cured himself.
THE FREE MEDICINE THAT THREATENED BIG PHARMA
Simpson didn’t keep this to himself. He didn’t patent it. He didn’t sell it.
He began growing cannabis in his own garden and producing the oil in bulk. He gave it away completely free of charge to thousands of people who came to him desperate for help.
The Agreement He Required:
For those who came to him with evidence of cancer, Simpson required them to sign a document agreeing to avoid chemotherapy and radiation treatments while using his oil. He believed that conventional cancer treatments were poisonous and that combining them with the oil would interfere with the healing process.
The documentary “Run From The Cure” (2008) features interviews with people who were cured by Simpson’s oil. According to various sources, Simpson successfully treated thousands of patients free of charge for conditions including cancer, AIDS, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, leukemia, Crohn’s disease, depression, osteoporosis, and chronic pain.
The film “brings to light the injustice done to millions of people suffering from the degenerative disease, Cancer,” and tells the tale of Rick Simpson, who “propagated the use of hemp oil to sufferers, curing and controlling the illnesses of hundreds of people until the day when law declared hemp oil illegal and charged Rick of possessing and trafficking marijuana.”
THE PERSECUTION BEGINS
When the story went public, the establishment came down hard.
In 2007, Rick Simpson was arrested and charged with possession, cultivation, and trafficking of marijuana. The charges were unconstitutional β he had never profited from his work.
On September 10, 2007, his case went to the Supreme Court of Canada. The patients he had cured β people whose lives he had saved β were not allowed to testify on his behalf.
The court refused to hear from the people he had healed.
Despite having over a dozen sworn affidavits from those he had helped, the government’s case against him proceeded.
Simpson was convicted and fined β but the persecution didn’t stop. His property was raided. His cannabis plants were destroyed. The local Legion branch that had supported him was shut down.
He was driven into exile.
Today, Rick Simpson lives in an undisclosed location in Europe, having fled Canada to escape further legal persecution. He wrote in a statement: “If I return home, I will be arrested and put in jail without bail or medicine. I am not afraid of their jails but I cannot go without my medicine. The system has nothing that could help me with my conditions. So for me to return to Canada would be like committing suicide.”
He added: “I cannot tell the people of Canada who are depending on my presence to help their medical conditions how sorry I am. But it was not me who caused this situation.”
THE DOCUMENTARY: THE RICK SIMPSON STORY β RUN FROM THE CURE (2008 / 2014 Updated Edition)
This documentary tells Rick Simpson’s story. It features interviews with people who were cured by Simpson’s oil but were refused from testifying on his behalf at the Supreme Court of Canada in his 2007 trial.
The film exposes how the Canadian government and pharmaceutical industry worked together to suppress a free cure.

THE EMPEROR WEARS NO CLOTHES
While Simpson was the practitioner β the man who proved the cure worked β Jack Herer was the historian β the man who proved why we were never told about it.
Jack Herer, sometimes called the “Emperor of Hemp,” was an American cannabis rights activist and the author of the 1985 book “The Emperor Wears No Clothes.”
What the book reveals:

Β· The many uses of hemp as medicine, food, fuel, fiber, paper, and plastic replacement
Β· The straight truth about marijuana and its effects on the human body

The book is “the authoritative historical record of cannabis, hemp, and the conspiracy against them.” It has been continuously in print for 35 years and is in its fourteenth edition. It has sold over 700,000 copies and is considered the “bible” of the movement to legalize hemp.
Herer used the famous Hans Christian Andersen story “The Emperor’s New Clothes” as an allegory for cannabis prohibition β the idea that everyone knows the truth, but no one dares to speak it.
THE DOCUMENTARY: EMPEROR OF HEMP (1999)
This documentary chronicles the life of Jack Herer and “his struggle for awareness and enlightenment of cannabis sativa, a.k.a. marijuana or hemp.” It exposes “government and big-business efforts to keep the plant illegal” and takes you “to the front lines of the pro-hemp movement.”
His research into this plant culminates in his writing “The Emperor Wears No Clothes: The Official Hemp Bible.”

THE CORE PRINCIPLE
Marijuana will be legalized federally β but with responsibility.
We are not going to allow laziness with marijuana. This is a benefit for responsible adults who contribute to society, not an excuse to check out of life.
We will legalize marijuana federally β but we will do it with accountability, common sense, and respect for the American people.
AGE-BASED LEGALIZATION REQUIREMENTS
Age Group: Under 25
Requirement: Medical documentation only (sleep/stress/anxiety excluded)
Age Group: 25β29
Requirement: Work (40 hrs), education + work (40 hrs), volunteer service, OR medical documentation
Age Group: 25β59 on Welfare
Requirement: NOT eligible until age 60
Age Group: 30β59
Requirement: Work (40 hrs), education + work (40 hrs), OR volunteer service
Age Group: 60 and older
Requirement: Legal for any use β no restrictions
POSSESSION LIMITS
Β· Personal use (flower): max 4 oz
Β· Home cultivation: Up to 4 plants per household
Β· Concentrates (e.g., Rick Simpson Oil): Up to 50 grams β higher limits allowed with medical documentation
Why: These limits prevent abuse and black market resale while allowing personal use and medical access.
WHERE CAN IT BE USED?
Β· Private property: Yes
Β· Public places: No β smoking in public is prohibited
Β· While driving or operating machinery: No β police will test for marijuana impairment like alcohol
Β· Federal buildings: No β federal property remains under federal control
Why: Common sense safety requirements protect non-users and prevent public intoxication.
EMPLOYMENT AND DRUG TESTING
Β· Employers may test for marijuana: Yes β safety-sensitive jobs (trucking, aviation, heavy machinery) require sobriety
Β· Cannot be high on the job: Same as alcohol β no impairment while working
Β· After work use allowed: Employers cannot restrict use outside of work hours
Β· Federal employees: Subject to federal restrictions β similar to alcohol
Why: This balances worker safety with personal freedom. You cannot be drunk on the job, and you cannot be high on the job.
INTERSTATE TRANSPORT
Β· Transporting across state lines: Allowed β we will not restrict interstate commerce
Β· State vs. federal enforcement: Federal law overrides state prohibitions
Β· States that reject legalization: Legal states cannot bring marijuana into states that prohibit it β but this will be politically unpopular for those states
Why: We want a free and open market. This is a federal ruling, and my Department of Justice will fight for it to be legal federally. If states choose to keep it illegal, that will be politically unpopular, and people who want full access may move to legal states.
EXPUNGEMENT OF PAST CONVICTIONS
Β· Records expunged: Yes β if the charge was strictly marijuana-related
Β· No expungement: If the person was involved with other drugs (cocaine, heroin, etc.)
Β· Current prisoners released: Yes β if the charge was strictly for marijuana and no other drugs
Why: This addresses the injustice of past prohibition for those whose only crime was marijuana possession.
MEDICAL MARIJUANA ACCESS (UNDER 25)
Β· Qualifying conditions: Epilepsy, cancer, chronic pain, PTSD, multiple sclerosis, and other documented medical conditions
Β· Sleep and stress: Do NOT qualify
Β· Who can prescribe? Any licensed physician
Β· Medical documentation required: Must provide clear medical proof
Why: Young people must have genuine medical need. Sleep and stress are not enough.
TAXATION AND REGULATION
Β· Tax rate: Same as alcohol taxes
Β· Regulator: DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration)
Β· How sold: State and federally licensed dispensaries
Why: This keeps regulation consistent with existing federal frameworks.
VETERANS AND MEDICAL MARIJUANA
Β· VA allowed to recommend: Yes
Β· Qualifying conditions: Chronic pain and PTSD β but only for veterans with documented combat experience
Β· No proof of combat: Does NOT qualify
Why: Veterans who served in combat deserve access to this medicine. Those without combat experience must follow the same rules as everyone else.
INTERSTATE COMMERCE AND BANKING
Β· Banking access: Yes β marijuana businesses will have full banking access
Β· Cash-only requirement: Eliminated β this is a legitimate business
Β· Interstate commerce: Allowed β we want a free market
Why: This is going to be big business. It is a legitimate industry that will benefit the American economy. We are going to get rid of the cash-only requirement.
